Welcome to PsychED

PsychED's inception can be traced back to the friendship that began in high school in 2006 between Dr. Andrew Cochran and Darrin Greene. Over the span of 18 years, their camaraderie evolved through shared interests, including activities like kayaking and video gaming, as well as academic pursuits in the field of Psychology.

Their bond, strengthened by mutual respect and understanding, laid the groundwork for PsychED. When Andrew was approached to provide expertise in interest-based learning to a local teen, he enlisted Darrin’s counseling skills. Together, they formed a cohesive team, providing comprehensive support to the student, their family, and their educational community.

Recognizing a broader need for assistance in mental health and academic success, they expanded their efforts to create PsychED. With a commitment to helping students thrive, they offer a lifeline to those facing challenges in education.

The name "PsychED" is a reflection of their shared history, stemming from their gaming days as "Get Psyched Gaming." It represents their dedication to infusing their work with enthusiasm, creativity, and a commitment to fostering a positive learning environment. Today, under the banner of PsychED, they continue to uphold these principles, empowering students to understand themselves and rediscover their passion for learning.

Our program is unique in several areas

Adaptive: We adapt to students’ needs as often as weekly if needed.

Holistic Approach: We work together with school teachers, special educators, and caregivers to provide holistic change for students.

Collaborative: The educator and therapists meet bi-monthly to discuss every student we work with to ensure alignment and inform each other’s work with our complimentary expertise.

Student-Centered: We determine several special interests the student has, engage in that special interest, and develop curriculum and assignments based on that interest that can match standards and gain buy-in from students which is paramount for successful therapy.

Dedicated to Keeping Kids in Public Schools: Public education provides so many opportunities for students that are unrivaled by homeschooling or alternative schools.

Cost Effective: Because we are not a school, do not have a facility, and require no additional student transportation, costs for Supervisory Unions and/or School Districts are much lower than an NFI or alternative school.
